Hey readers, sooo this is the third part of my trip to Vietnam! Well, I'm halfway there for the blog posts. (2 more blog posts to go. Weww). Alright, let me take you to day 3 in Vietnam!!
If you wanna look at the previous parts of the trip, here are the links!
As usual, I woke up later than second day... But still earlier than expected HAHAHAHA
Guess what? It was just 5am-6am in the morning, and the Sun is up.
Picture of the wall lamp in the room~
We opened the window to allow fresh air to come in.
*And we were afraid that a huge lizard will suddenly appear out of nowhere again.
The previous night....
A humongous lizard was in our room when we came back from dinner I guess. I was so terrified that I screamed and immediately ran out of the room. HAHAHA YES IT'S WAS SCARY!!
Then the lizard decided to play hide-and-seek with the tour guide and us. You may not expected this to happen, but the lizard decided to hide inside the air-conditioner. The tour guide and the owner of the home stay had to take the trouble to "remove" the air-conditioner to lure the lizard out. I really have to thank them for catching the lizard!! :DD
The morning fresh air is great!! I felt so refreshed and energetic.
HAHAHA TOO EXAGGERATED RIGHT?
Packing up my stuff for the third day, as well as packing my luggage. ^^
Yeah, we connected the beds together. XD
The outside view of the room.
I was hoping that no lizards will suddenly appear while I was taking the pictures.
I remembered Nicole was like "Close it close it, faster" after I took the pictures. No exception, I was extremely scary too!
If you've read my travel blogs (Like I'm in overseas), I'll take last minute pictures of the whole room. Yeah.. That's just me. Hehehehe
Pushing the bed back to its original position.
And that's my feet featuring my bag, and my reflection booklets.
(Yes, we had to do reflections every single day.)
Featuring my hugeee luggage.
That reminds me, I would recommend you guys NOT to buy pin-number locks as it is easy to come off. Well, I bought an extremely cheap pin-number locks last minute because I was afraid that I'd lost the keys to the key-pad locks. Then when I arrive at the homestay for the first night, my pin-number lock was missing. I guess the lock was too weak and can come off easily.
Therefore, using the key-pad lock is so much better as it is stronger and more solid.
*Keep the key in a pouch, if you're afraid that you'll lose it*
The bathroom..
Yeahh.. My #ootd for day threeee
I really loved the Learning Fiesta shirt. HAHAHA
My "very lose" socks. (There's a hole there if you looked closely)
Nicole's beautiful snapback
The key to our room.
Room 109.

And my coffeee.
*They had not added the condensed milk yet. hehehe
The 2 dogs relaxing and stalking there.
Hihi, you came to see me one last time? (':
Pictures around the eating area. (:
The dog came to us again. Ahhhh <3
We were the last to eat.. Soo.. It was extremely empty.
Except the teachers who were still eating hehe.
Heading back to our room to do our final and last packing!
Going around the homestay to take a few more photos. Well, not a few but many.. XD
Headed upstairs one last time.
Yeah.. Everything is basically the "one last time" as we won't be coming back here again ):
Pano of the second level. Pretty cool isn't it?
Heading down back to our rooms.
See Nicole? See Belinda with her laptop? XD
We're officially leaving the homestay ):
I'll remember staying in this room!!
We had to bid the dogs farewell first right..
Here's Nicole playing with the dog. (:
And featuring Tessa with her Vietnam hat!
WE'RE REALLY LEAVING AHHH..
I really miss the experience staying at the home stay. So nostalgic...
Even a beautifully-shaped pine(?) tree??
The house is beautiful, isn't it? :DD
Heading to board the boat..
Trevor's candid shot. Not on purpose fyi. HAHAHAHA
Beautiful sky with a Vietnam flag there!
We had to bring our luggage to the boats, so I was basically a very busy woman. Taking pictures while handling my heavy and huge luggage. ):
On the boat, leaving the homestay ):
The scenery around the Mekong River never fails to entices me..
Went to visit various "stations" to know more about the livelihood of the Vietnamese here!
Omg BFF Yun, I found another photo of Thaddeus
(sorry, up till now I still don't know how to spell his name)
How they used various parts of the Coconut.
They were mainly used to make sweets. I bought the original and durian flavour, it really tasted great!
*I'm not sure about the other uses of the coconut. :x
Too much information to store into memory. Hhahahahaha
I guess they used the coconut meat to... I've no idea.
They cooked the coconut water first I think. It becomes a very thick paste before it becomes dark brown colour.
The station where they cut the coconut sweets into pieces before wrapping them up.
Long rectangular-shaped coconut.
The people cutting the coconut sweets into many pieces.
They are very skilled and experienced in this! :OO
Trevor being in charge of taking pictures, busy taking pictures.
Hopefully I wasn't capture in the picture. :DD
If not the picture will show my auntie-style of taking pictures. HAHAHA
The coconut sweet~~
It really tastes like coconut (duhh, geraldine duhh)
The paintings are beautiful!!
Erm.. These are snakes I guess..? Hmm...
This is where rice paper is being made
Tessa went to have a try of making rice paper.
The roosters. Roaming around freely~~~~
Omg I have forgotten what is this but I know when it's cooked, it changes colour from yellow to black. XD
I was so fascinated when the thing changed colour.
We get to try out the snacks as well as the green tea~
Tea anyone?
They sell lots of stuff too!!
The counter where we can purchase the coconut sweets as well as the green-tea leaves.
They have Vietnam hats..
Tessa bought a small packet of dragonflies for Mr Low.
Well.. Physics- The Turning Effects of Forces.
I bought these cards that will show a certain picture when it is being opened.
It's pretty cool, honestly speaking!!
Tessa's priceless face. XD
She tried to imitate the expression of the fish in the tank.
However, the fish in the tank can't be seen clearly.
Also, the tour guide ushered us to be faster so I didn't managed to take a good shot. ):
Rice Wine I guess.
Ms Chia and Mr Chew trying it out
Mr Chew, if you're reading this, hihi! XD
The snake in the glass bottle..?
Heading back into the boat.
The livelihood of the Vietnam people.
We are trying the Sampan rowing, where an experienced woman will row the boat to allow us to experience the journey through a small canal!
But before that. We went to watch a performance which is mainly using traditional instruments and the performers' voices to sing. Even though we do not understand their language, we have an idea what the story-line is about through their facial experience.
It was an extremely great performance!
We had fruits~~ (oh oh, and teaaaa)
Here's the performance..
They're basically talking about family love, where the daughter is leaving the family. It had the very solemn and emotional mood there
After the performance, we're off to experience the Sampan rowing
I was pretty excited to go onto the rowing. However, I was anxious too as I was afraid that the boat may capsized or that my phone will drop into the water. ><
Pano featuring Nicole taking pictures with her camera! XD
Our journey into the small canal.
We had an insight of what life is like in Vietnam when rowing past the small canal. We saw boats parked at one side of the canal, sounds of the roosters and clothes being hanged on a string.
A very wonderful and thrilling experience
We're out of the small canal, heading back to the place where our boat is waiting. ):
We've reached ):
We ended our Sampan rowing here.
The experience was definitely thrilling and exciting!!
Hehehe I've to thank the rower for rowing us through a thrilling yet memorable journey~~
Had coconut drink to quench our thirst!!
I guess the rambuttans weren't for us..?
Alighted from the boat to board the bus!
Had to take the luggage from the boat again. Pretty tedious and tiring. ><
Tessa posing with her Vietnam hat (she bought a new one) before boarding the bus. |
BFF Yun *smirk face*
DON'T KILL ME WHEN YOU SEE THIS PLEASE
It was an extremely long bus ride, so I kind of slept during the ride because I was so tired (despite getting ample of rest the previous night)
This cloud looks like an angel with wings.
Does it?
Had snacks on the way there~~
Nicole trying to play Deemo at the fastest speed.
Pretty funny when she attempted it.
After that we headed to the Mekong Rest Shop for our lunch.
Yes, it's the same restaurant we had for our first lunch in Vietnam.
However, the dishes are totally different!
Heading to the restaurant to have our lunch!!
Was looking forward to the dishes served~~
Went to visit the toilet, again.
Here comes our lunch!!
Curry with potatoes, pineapple and sausage I think (with French Loaves)
Soup with carrots, potatoes and mushrooms
Noodlesss~~
This erm.. limegrass (?) dish again
Meat~~
My bowl of soup. Mmm..
My glass of cold water
Ootah I guess?
Yupp yupp
After having a filling lunch..
Went to the souvenirs store
They sell the cards here too!
HAHAHA Nicole so cute and fearless.
The chickens "move"when the balls oscillates.
Dragonflies
Heading back to the bus..
*Tessa wore 2 hats on her head. HAHAHA
After that, we headed to the direction of our hotel.
THE CLOUDS ARE SO BEAUTIFUL OMG
The traffic in Ho Chi Minh City is very special as there is a timer of how long the traffic be before it turns red/green.
The sky is overcast with dark clouds, and it started to rain.
Well.. Nicole took it.
My extremely tired and blurred face after waking up hearing that it's raining.
(Okay I made the story part up. HAHAHA)
We alighted from the bus, and headed to the Ben Thanh market to do our shopping.
We were told to look after our belongings very closely as the market is extremely crowded. I still remembered the moment when I was in the market, many shop owners began persuading us to buy stuffs from them. Then I told Nicole and Sheryl that this is so scary. Not knowing that they actually know English, one of the shop owners asked me "What's so scary". Well that scared me and I just walked ahead.
It was extremely difficult to captures pictures in the market as we did not want unnecessary attention from the people there. We had to bargain a lot for the price and we were quite scared to do that, as I thought that the shop owners will be angry. I tried to bargain the first few times and I failed. After that, I didn't dare to bargain for more as I was too timid.
However, I bought a phone case and a dream-catcher from 2 different shops. Well, the dream-catcher is too nice, and I had to buy it. (Sadly, we didn't get discount from buying 3. Sighh) The phone case I bought was beautiful. But I guess the shop owner sold the phone case at a higher price ):
After shopping, we walked to our hotel that we were staying for the last 2 nights in Vietnam,
the Oscar Hotel.
*Sorry that the picture is inverted. ):
When I stepped into the hotel, I was amazed by the hotel furnishings, they even have a piano!! XD
Very high-class and luxurious omg..
In the lift, heading to our hotel room.
I was excited to know how our hotel room looked like.
And yes, we stayed at the lowest floor. Well, there are pros and cons to staying at that floor.
The advantage is that whenever you're extremely late, you do not have to wait for the lift. You can literally just walk down the stairs to reach the lift lobby. XD
Well, disadvantage is that among all the rooms of the other levels, the room here is extremely different from the rest. Moreover, the restaurant where we had our breakfasts is at the highest floor is extremely far from level 3 ;-;
Pictures of the hotel room.
Well, indeed the very high-class standard (to me)
Pano of the rooms (:
Things we bought at the Ben Thanh Market...
Nicole's dream-catchers.
My phone case~
Finished bathing and ready to head out.
After washing my hair, here comes my flat hair. ):
Outside view of the hotel room.
My bed hehehehe.
I chose the one nearest to the wall as I was still superstitious about stuffs..
Actually Nicole wanted to choose this bed, then she was like "Haiya never mind. I don't want you to not be able to sleep at night again" Technically I disrupted her sleep during her first night.
I'm sorry Nicole ): Mianhae ;-;
Zi Hean send something on snapchat, and I screenshot-ed it because it's too scenic.
Cambodia's morning sight |
Went to Tessa's hotel room before we went to assemble at the lift lobby (:
They stayed at level 7, i think.
Look at their room!!
Even though there's no window. HAHAHA
Tessa chilling on her bed. HAHAHA
*Like a boss
Yupp with her Vietnam hat, again.
I robbed her hat because I find this hat too cool!!

Off to go to have our dinner on a ship~~
We've reached our destination!
That's the ship where we'll be having our dinner at.
Seems pretty interesting, isn't it?
So high-class omg. (Restaurant-style in a ship)

*Sorry Lester that you've to hold my potable charger while taking those photos.
(He even needed his hand for support HAHAHA.. XD)
That was one of the most memorable dinner/night in Vietnam. Reminiscing the great moments I had with my friends - All the laughter and the smiles we had on our faces. The time when we enjoyed the scenery outside of the ship, it really seemed short yet long. (I literally have no idea). Letting the cool wind brush against our faces as we chattered non-stop. The lovely music played throughout the whole ride, brought the atmosphere to a whole new level. The endless conversations we had and the jokes that brought laughter to me. Well, I still remembered there was once you almost dropped my phone and that gave me a major heart attack. HAHAHA.. Those moments.. are unforgettable and never forgotten.. BIND was awesome and great!! <3
--------------------------------
After the ride had ended..
I ACTUALLY THOUGHT THAT THAT WAS THE SHIP WE WERE HAVING OUR DINNER AT HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Selfie in the bus while heading back to the hotel.
What we bought from the supermarket...
Cup noodles~~ (The only time where I can have them hehehe)
Nicole brought Green Tea here.. Soo drinking Green Tea time.
The aroma of the smell of the green tea. Aahhhh <3
Nicole's snapchat. XD
Yupp, I felt so comfortable and cozy all of a sudden.
Selfie before heading to bed (:
That's the end of day 3 in Vietnam! To be honest, the dinner cruise was an extremely great idea. That was the first time I had gone on a ship to have my dinner. HAHAHA, I'm serious, ain't joking about it. Hopefully there's another time where I can have a cruise dinner? *smirk face* HAHA
If I had to describe day 3 in one word.. "captivating"(?). Maybe the cruise dinner was an eye-opener that allowed me to see the beautiful cities in Ho Chin Minh. It's definitely a rare chance to go on a dinner cruise, to be frank. Hehehehe never ever forgetting the moments in the cruise ship :3
*I'm literally just babbling all about the dinner cruise, I'm sorry. It's just sooo.. awwww...
Well, I guess that's all for day 3 in Vietnam. There's still 2 more parts of the trip in Vietnam to go. Gonna be a spoiler for part 4 - we're doing things that allowed us to experience something that we may not get a chance to in Singapore. Does that hint you a little bit? HAHAHA...
See you guys in part 4! Take care~
~Geraldine (:
