Hey guys. So here's part 2 of my trip to Vietnam. more like the second day there. ^^
Let me take you to day 2 in Vietnam alright?
Hold on hold on, if you have not looked through part 1, there's no more continuation to this BIND trip. HAHAHA I'm just kidding, but here are the links to the various parts of the trip! (:
--------------
Look who welcomed me early in the morning.
I woke up pretty early and Nicole was still asleep (if you read Part 1, it's because of me ><)
So, I decided to walk around the home stay and enjoy the cool air brushing against my face. To my surprise, the sky is already bright when I woke up. (Even though it was just.. 5-6am?)
The light so pretty~~
Yes, you see me in a jacket. It's cold bruh
BREAKFAST~
French toast loaves is the highlight of Day 2's breakfast.
Well, I'm really in love with Vietnam's French Loaves
According to my uncle, he told me that French Loaves is available because in the past, Vietnam was occupied by the French. That's why there's French Loaves ^^
Asam Fish (is that how you spell it?)
FRIED RICE WEWWW
And some refreshing soup
There's Bee Hoon/Noodles too
My breakfast for Day 2
OH OH THE COFFEE WITH CONDENSED MILK IS THE MOST AWESOME COFFEE I'VE EVEN DRANK..
IT'S LIKE "OMG AHHHH" Ö
We went to pack our stuff before heading to a Secondary School for our school visit!
The beautiful scenery in Vietnam <3
Well, taking every angle of the home stay because this will be last day and night staying here, before we head to the hotel for the next 2 nights! ):
To be frank, I have mixed feelings when we're leaving the home stay.
Happy because the hotel has better facilities (such as the bed and the toilet)
However, I can't bear to leave the home stay as it had allowed me to experience living in a different house. The home stay allowed us to visit our friends anytime we want, because our room is just maybe 5-10 metres away from one another?
Leaving the home stay to head to the Secondary School.
LOOK AT THE BEAUTIFUL CLOUDS AND SKY AHH
The Mekong River (I think. Please correct me if I'm wrong!)
We decided to sit at the back of the boat for a while
You know, to enjoy the wind as the boat travels.
But we didn't stay there for a long time as the sun is getting hot (plus we were wearing life coats and wearing double layers, so it's hotter??). We literally wore a pe shirt over the school uniform. With the life coat, won't it be even hot?
SELFIES OF COURSE.
Photos taken as we were travelling to the Secondary School by boat! ^^
Trevor damn swag AHAHA
Soo... Tessa and I continued to take selfies.
Wewww successful 4 consecutive photos (:
This boat ride is really an eye-opener for me to have insights of the livelihood in Vietnam! ^^
The photos are technically the beautiful clouds and green land.
Don't worry, we didn't seat on the wooden floor. There were chairs for us to sit there hehe
Guess who is who? :DD
EXCLUSIVE: FROM TREVOR'S CAMERA
We went back into shelter as we can't tolerate the heat anymore ):
The boat ride was extremely long due to the low tide (The boat had to move very slowly)
We finally alighted from the boat, and we're taking a bus to the Secondary School now!
We were welcomed by the sounding of drums and smiles on the students' face as they clapped excitedly on our arrival to their school.
The principal of the school as well as our teacher-in-charge, Mr Clement, gave their opening speeches to both the students in Vietnam and us.
We were separated into three groups. One group is in charge of painting one of the classrooms, the other will be engaged in hand-ons activites and the rest will be playing exciting games!!
Well, for me, my group played games with the Vietnam students!!
I was anticipating playing games with people of the same age (kind of, we were probably older than them by a couple of years..?) from a different country.
Firstly, we played frisbee. Even though we had a language barrier between us, the Vietnam students still got the gist of the game. Soon, we were playing the game already!
Fyi, I didn't play because I didn't bring my PE shorts to BIND. I'm still embarrassed about not double checking whether I have brought everything I needed.
So guys, please double and triple check that you've brought everything that you need for the trip. ^^
But still, I played games that do not require a lot of running. (Well, I still run a lot. HAHAHA)
The boys were playing a game that requires a lot of patience and coordinate with your body. Basically, you attach a string with a ball on it, then you use your body motion to allow the ball from the string to hit the other ball. Whoever hits the ball into the goal-post, wins.
Well, I played that game too. It was pretty challenging and difficult as it requires body coordination. However, I found the 2 rounds individually and with Sheryl. YAY!!
(We got snacks for our prize HAHAHA)
EXCLUSIVE: FROM TREVOR'S CAMERA
I know you spotted me.
I was camera-shy at that point. HAHAHA
Now I regretted avoiding it because I look more stupid-looking like that XD
We also played another game, which we had to fill one full cup of water. Then walk to the table where there is a row of cups. After pouring the cup with water into the another, we had to blow the ball that was flowing on the water into the next cup. Sounds complicated? The pictures will explain everything.
The game is harder than I thought it was. You can see the frustration shown in my face as I try to blow the ball into the next cup. HAHAHA
My turn to play. Watch my facial expression, just watch. HAHAHA
Pretty unglam, I must admit. (:
See how annoyed when the ball hit onto my hand? HAHAHAHA that's just me (:
After playing so many games, it was time to have our lunch~
The beautiful view when heading to the restaurant for our lunch!
Yesyes, tissue also must take.
Even Nicole can't stand me, HAHAHA. Sorry Nicole :b
Off we go to the restaurant~~
The outside view of the restaurant, where passengers alight from the boat.
There was also a group of students alighting from the boat, I wonder which country are they from hmm... (:
Here comes the food~~
Bread loaves, again!! YAY
I really love the crispy feeling when biting onto the bread loaf.
Noodles with the soup I guess..?
Prawns..
Almost every meal I had in Vietnam, there is always the Prawn dish ;-;
Chrysanthemum tea~~
Tom Yam with Vegetables~
Damn spicy!!
Fried rice!!
Chicken legs... Is it? ._.
THE CURRY HERE IN VIETNAM TASTES GREAT TOO!!
We went to the toilet.
So while waiting for Nicole, I took pictures outside of the restaurant.
Yeah, nothing much~
Back to the school to play even more games!
Thankfully we didn't have to do presentation. This is because most of the students have already went home in the afternoon.
However, we practiced so much for the presentation!! >:
Well, the guys played football. All the sand that they've kicked.. It was pretty cool to be honest.
The Vietnam boys were extremely good at playing football. Yeah.. My friends got trashed by them..
The another side played frisbee or monkey ball. (Either one of them hahahaha)
After that, they played a traditional game where we must cross the bamboo obstacles with our feets. They played music along with the sounds of the bamboo sticks. I didn't try out that because I was afraid that my feet will get stuck to the bamboo sticks HAHAHAHA
I got bored and decided to check out Tessa's group, who did the painting.
Mei Shan accompanied with me ^^
Outside view of the classroom/ top view of the school
There they are!
With their masks on.
They are painting something Singapore-related, like the Merlion!
Guess who's who :DD
The classroom in Vietnam
It is definitely different from the ones in Singapore!
Yupp, we were at the top level, while they are downstairs playing games.
So I've no idea what's going on downstairs while I'm just there looking at Tessa's group painting HAHAHAHA...
Going back down because it was almost time to go back..
Yay or nay?
Wait wait, I think we went down because something exciting was about to happen.
TUG-OF-WAR!!
Yeah, our school versus the Vietnam school.
It was a pretty intense fight between one another!
THE BOYS
THE GIRLS
MIXTURE OF BOYS AND GIRLS
HAHAHAA LESTER'S FACE XD
After the tug-of-war, it was time to bid farewells to our Vietnam friends. Before we leave, they gave us flowers and designed something using pan dang leaves (well, it's still with me at home, but it's turning yellow ): ). Besides that, each Vietnam student gave us their red tie and helped us to tie it around our necks. It was definitely a memorable moment (':
Good moments in the Secondary School indeed..
We are heading back to our homestay. *cries*
I definitely miss the times I have spent at the school.
Even though I had some language barriers with my Vietnam friends, we understood one another using hand gestures and through facial expressions. It was an eye-opener for me as I know how Vietnam classrooms actually looked like as well as the facilities there!
The Vietnam students outside bidding farewell.
The red tie that I was referring too.
Well, Nicole is probably tired after painting the whole classroom.
Pictures as we headed back to our homestay.
Alighted from the bus, boarding the boat!
Pictures throughout the boat ride!
Tessa was tired hehehe (:
Finally alighted from the boat.
A lot of pictures isn't it? Hahahaha
The entrance of the homestay is just so flowery and beautiful!!
Selfie with the red tie given by the Vietnam student once again.
Yeahh.. I was sweating like mad!!
We headed for mud-fishing.
The strong smell of the mud can be smelled from a far.
Hehehe the dog chilling and relaxing..
The environment here is so calming and relaxing.
So scenic...
Well.. Here's where they'll be going to mud-fish~~
I have reasons not trying to experience this. Hehe
I went to help out something else blehh
Now thinking about that, I kind of regretted not trying that out because I can never do that in Singapore! ):
Trevor went into the mud first.
Slowly, more are going into the mud.
There were shrieks and screams as they entered. XD
Remember the dog that was at the homestay? It was here at that point of time.
We really do have some connection with each other. HAHAHA KIDDING
Okay, more photos coming up..
If you're featured in the photo, please don't scold me for being in the photo. (:
The wild and deserted forest, with such a beautiful scenery.
The clouds in Vietnam is extremely breathe-taking.. I know I said this a million times. I just can't resist myself to say this over and over again. ):
Yeah, there were 2 dogs hiding under the bush. Mmmhmm
Last picture before I went to help out...
To plug out rambutans~~ (Is that out you spell it?)
Well, we got the permission to try out the rambutans. Let me be honest with you, it was extremely sweet and I got tempted to keep eating them.
According to our tour guide for our school trip, he say we can try the rumbutans outer shells and seeds onto the ground as it will "grow" into a new tree. Not sure if it's true, but oh well. (:
The green and unriped rambutans (:
So small and tiny hehe
Plugged rambutans with my sister <3
Sis, if you're reading this, HIHI!! :DD
Okay so lame.. HAHAHA
After plugging numerous rambuttans, we decided back to our homestay. We kind of got lost when heading back to the homestay. HAHAHA (Problems when I've no sense of direction.)
As usual, pictures as we headed back to the homestay.
Life feels so free-and-easy, I definitely feel all the stress being released there. (:(:
Pano of the mud-rushing area
Picture with my sister~
My left side of glasses is dirtied and cannot be cleared off (sigh). So just ignore that alright? (:
They're still mud-fishing hmmm
See Nicole in the background? XD
THEY HAVE DRAGON FRUITS TOO.
The teachers there are just savouring and enjoying the fruits they have at the homestay. Never share with us. ):
I find this cardboard extremely cool. A spectrum of colours wewww (RAINBOW!~)
After having a hard(?) but refreshing shower, we headed for dinner.
This was the last dinner we'll ever have at the homestay in Vietnam. ):
We were going to make the "popiah" version of Vietnam, where we are going to mix every single of the ingredients in the photo (before putting it into our rice paper)
To be honest, it tasted awesome!!
Step-by-step procedure coming up.
HAHAHA TUTORIAL~ (:
Frying the "popiah"
Mei Shan serving Chrysanthemum tea. Hehhe thank you!! :DD
*Even the glass jar matches the drink we were drinking XD
Plain white rice
And Tessa decided to photobomb.
Ain't she cute? ^^
Before dinner starts...
The soup...
Fish (If I'm not wrong)
Meat~~
The "popiah" is being served wewww..
Tessa's priceless face. HAHAHA
Times when she still had long hair.
Prawns..
See see I told you.
Vegetables~
We didn't touched the prawns so the tour guide helped us peeled off the prawn shell so that we would eat it. XD
Am I suppose to put an Elmo face, Lester?
It has been more than 4 months, and I've totally forgotten what you've told me oopsie.
MANGO!!
They gave us a Vietnam head~~
Tessa was the first to put it on.
Sorry, I washed my hair. (That's why my hair is super duper flat :x)
Thankfully my glasses ain't dirty in this picture. pheww
Outside of the room, where there's a long table with lots of chairs.
We had to write reflections for day 1 and day 2 in Vietnam. I worked pretty hard on this reflections as it kind of helps in my blogging! (:
After reflection, we had a mini-party at Sheryl's room.
Us with the Vietnam hats.
Gosh my glasses is dirty.. ;-;
With Tessa~~
Group photo!
*Nicole didn't join us as she was busy packing up her stuff ):
The snack we won in the game during the school visit. XD
Returned back to my room as I've to pack my stuffs as well. HAHAHA
Fyi, I was still wearing my Vietnam hat. XD
Unglam selfies with Nicole.
Actually all of them were from snpchats.
We were snapping selfies to our friends who were also in BIND too. HAHAHA
Probably the most unglam-est selfies ever HAHAHA I'M SORRY GUYS ):
Last night in the homestay.
Ready for the next day of adventure!
I must admit Day 2 was extremely exhausting because we moved around and do a lot of walking throughout the whole day. As I did not have enough sleep the previous day, I immediately blacked out when I lay on the bed.
To be frank, it was a great experience visiting a Vietnam school and getting to know the students there. Moreover, the 2 nights in the homestay made it even more thrilling as we were living in a place where it has different environment and is totally different from a hotel!
Stay tune to the third day of my journey in Vietnam! We have visited the Ben Thanh Market and get to know the livelihood of the Vietnameses!
See you in the next blog post, anticipate! Take care~~
~Geraldine (:
