Hihi readers, so this is the second last blog post about my trip to Vietnam. To be honest, the fourth day was full of activities! You'll find out as you scroll through my journey in Vietnam for the day!
If you wanna see my other parts of my adventure in Vietnam, here are the links! ^^
As you know, I woke up earlier than expected (again)...
Morning guys.. Morning sky looked so beautiful. Literally in every blog, I said that the clouds in Vietnam are very beautiful XD
Sitting on the "studying" desk under the table lamp to do up my reflection booklet, while looking through my social media.
*Oh oh, and looking through the itinerary too! XD Multi-tasking, wooo
Done washing up and bathing~
WORE MY CLASS TEE.. WOOO~~
Table lamp, featuring a packet of tidbits. Mmmhmm >_<
My reflection booklet very wordy, yes yes I'm aware of that hehehe.
Getting ready to head to the restaurant at the top-level for breakfast!
HAHAHA I "STOLE" NICOLE'S SHADES WHILE SHE WAS WEARING HER SHOES. XD
Her shades are like nicer than mine.
Nicole's done, off to have breakfast~~~
Had to take the lift because the restaurant is at the 8th level (if I'm not wrong), then our room is on the 3rd level. Well, I tried to go to the restaurant by climbing up the stairs.
IT'S PRETTY TIRING AND EXHAUSTING OKAYY.. 5 LEVELS.. HURHUR
Okay, I think I climbed up the stairs.. The staircase is so scary, imagine if you just slip your leg into the hole between the stairs? Won't it be scary...? ><
Beautiful city-like view at the restaurant!
Off to take pictures around the restaurant.
*Didn't take ALL because it's really shameless and embarrassing doing that. People will probably judge me for doing that too much.
When to order omelette first!! <3
Got omelette~~
We get to chose the ingredients we want to put into the omelette.
*There's like some sunshine egg thing right, I have no idea what's that. Someone please tell me ;-;
I WANNA TRYY~~ (Egg-lover here)
The fruits and desert section (?)
Cups for tea and coffee
*OF COURSE COFFEE IS A MUST IN VITNAM (!!)
MY COFFEEEEEEE <3
*I'm still pretty high whenever the word 'coffee' is mentioned. XD
Condensed milk and sugar to put into the coffee~~
*CONDENSED MILK MAKES THE COFFEE TASTE PERFECTTT
MY FIRST BREAKFAST IN THE HOTEL
My fruits!!
After finishing my breakfast, continue to take pictures outside the restaurant!
After breakfast, we headed to the lift lobby for yet another exciting adventure in Vietnam.
An array of activities is waiting for us~~ ^^
On the bus to head to the first destination for the day.
Featuring Nicole's camera~
Featuring Tessa's top face. XD
While on the bus, they helped me to braid my fringe. THANKS GUYS! <3
Selfies on the bus~~~
*With Nicole and Sheryl's shades!!
Trevor looks so cool with the shades (!!)
Our unready faces HAHAHAAH
Selfies with Nicole too. HAHAHAH XD
Beautiful clouds in Vietnam, as usual.
ARRIVED AT THE CU CHI TUNNELS!!
I was extremely excited to crawl through the tunnels that the Vietnamese soldiers used to be there during the Vietnam War!
We had to climb up the steep slope before we reached the Cu Chi Tunnel area!
Went into the small "hut" for a knowledge about how Vietnamese soldiers survived in the tunnels and how the tunnels were constructed. For instance, there are different rooms for different purposes!
Here comes the steep stairs.
*It was pretty hard to climb down the stairs while taking this photo, HAHAHA
The map of Vietnam!
The construction of the tunnels.
This is the small tunnel that the Vietnamese soldiers used to "hide" themselves when the America soldiers came to attack them.
Basically, they "camouflage" themselves by covering the cover with leaves. so when they cover themselves, it looks like the ground of the forest. In fact, this actually links into the other tunnels!
It looks like there's nothing right?
It will be demonstrated through the pictures.
Well, pictures speak a thousand words soo.. ENJOY! (:
So we tried it out..
Trevor trying it out! XD
I think that is Tessa.
Then Nicole hehehehe
The trap that Vietnamese soldiers set. When the American soldiers step on the grass, they will fall into the trap. Yupp, the trap underneath the grass is pretty intimidating. ><
Yupp, that is the trap.
We headed to experience how it is like in the tunnel. ^^
Well, it was extremely tedious and tiring. Not only is the air very stuffy, we can smell people's sweat as we were crawling in the tunnel! >< However, the tunnel is not just a normal tunnel where we just crawl in the tunnel. We had to climb up and down to continue crawling. Moreover, the tunnel is very narrow and small, so we had to keep ourselves in a lower position.
To be honest with you guys, I had a hard time crawling through the tunnels. Firstly, I'm really bad at crawling, I have no idea why. My mum told me that I had difficulties crawling when I was baby (so I'm typically the unique one here. HAHAHA). So instead of crawling, I had to squat and walk at the same time. As you know that squatting down is a pretty exhausting thing, my muscles were really burning while I was crawling. LITERALLY.
There were 3 parts of the tunnel and in between them, we can choose to leave or continue. Well, HAHAHA, the first one was pretty long, and I gave up on the last 2, because I was spent.
During the first part of the tunnel, there was a steep slope down. Guess what? My head almost got stuck there, I panicked you know? Like "AAHHHHHHH.. OMG OMG" As it is impossible to squat while walking the slope, I slided down the slope. Pretty fun. HAHAHAHA. Oh oh ya, the tunnel is really dark too because the lights are freaking dim. Like leggit, it's so dark that you're afraid that you lost your way there.
However, the last 2 parts of the tunnel were pretty short. I was astonished that it was just 1-2 minutes for both parts. Well, I didn't want to attempt the last 2 parts of the tunnel because I was afraid that I'd faint while crawling. HAHAHAHA.. I rather not risk myself mann (even though it was an opportunity to burn the calories from all the food we ate, without exercising. hahahaha)
After experiencing crawling in the tunnels..
I think this is also a form of trap, where the American soldiers in the past thought that the hole is linked to the tunnels where the Vietnamese soldiers stay..?
How the Vietnamese soldiers lived during the Vietnam War.
I guess this is for the air ventilation of the tunnels..?
*I remember the tour guide mentioning about termites too(?) I DON'T KNOW ><
The army tank that the Vietnamese soldiers used during the Vietnam War..
After that.. We went to check out the different traps that the Vietnamese soldiers had used during the Vietnam War!
Went to check out how machinery (such as the atomic bomb) were made during the war.
There was also a place where we can try shooting a rifle. However, we were underage and it was too dangerous for us to try that out!
Headed to the tourist shop to have a break!
WE BOUGHT ICE-CREAMM!!
*Yeah, I bought the strawberry-flavoured ice-cream. (Strawberry lover hereee)
Heading back to the bus..
The visit to Cu Chi Tunnel was extremely wonderful and unforgettable. It has definitely given me insights of how Vietnamese soldiers were experiencing during the Vietnam War. The harsh conditions they had to endure, the crawling in the narrow tunnels for hours and hours. Their perseverance and determination is really remarkable. I have learnt certain essential values through the visit there! Hopefully, I'm given the chance to go there again (so that I can complete the last 2 parts of the tunnel. I WANNA TRY THAT AGAIN!!)
After the visit, we headed to have our lunch. Well, we were having our lunch near the lake/river(?). To be honest, I didn't really have a great lunch at that time. >< But it was still a great experience being on a mini-boat having our lunch! ^^
Going into the mini-boat for our lunch~~
The view on the boat! (:
Here comes the dishes (:
Well, it looks very appetizing. ^^
Heading back to the bus to go to our next destination!!
Guess where we were heading to?
It was just a 15-minutes bus ride before we reached the rice-plantation area!
Vietnam hats we wore while planting.
The chef(?) talks about how the different types of plants are being grown in the farm!
.... And there was a quiz.. ._.
After the short quiz is done, we headed to plant lime plants into the soil first. Well, it's those normal soil where we plant stuff. But it was pretty damp and soft.. ._.
Guess what? We had a competition on who is the fastest at planting the plants into the soil.
After that, there were more competitions coming in. Here comes the exciting part of trip there,
RICE-PLANTING TIME! Yes, isn't it obvious that we'd be rice-planting at a rice-plantation?
When we stepped into the muddy soil, it felt a mixture of hotness and coldness. Well, it's hot because of the scorching hot sun and the soil must be cold in nature I guess. All of us were screaming and shouting when we stepped into the soil. Like "OMG THE SOIL OMG.." HAHAHA
Moreover, it was pretty hard to walk onto the soil as it was extremely soft and you'd sink into it as you walk. We were given a certain amount of time to plant the rain plants into the soil, and which group that plants the "nicest" is the winner. During the rice-planting process, I realised how tiring and exhausting rice-planting was. I learnt that the rice were planted by the farmers, who had to be in the scorching hot sun, bending down to plant the plants. It made me appreciate the food that I have, and not take them for granted!
Next we went to pluck out peanut plants, where peanuts are hidden in between the roots of the plants. The final competition, who gets the most peanuts is the winner. I mean, this competition is based on luck. If you get the plant that has the most number of peanuts, you're lucky. Well.. If you get the plant that has the least.. (: Yeahh HAHAHAHA
Pictures at the rice-plantation area! ^^
Walking to the bus..
After washing up and stuff, we headed back to the hotel! ^^
Pictures on Trevor's camera..
Look at Thaddeus' annoyed face. HAHAHAHA
*The one in the blue t-shirt is meeeee!! :DD And yeah I know I'm the odd one out not wearing PE shorts. Zzzz, I didn't even bring my PE shorts.. ;-;
Guess who's this? That's right.. Tessa~~
Selfies on the bus, again.. (:
I think Tessa is the one who kept on changing seats.. Soo.. HAHAHA XD
The sky was overcast with dark clouds.. AND IT STARTED TO DRIZZLE THEN RAIN!! ):
Finally reached the hotel and bathed. Felt so refreshed~~ (:
Headed to the lift lobby, because we're heading to the restaurant to have our final dinner. Yes, I said FINAL dinner. It's the LAST one. Nooooo ):
The hotel that we stayed for the 2 nights!
We have reached the restaurant for our final dinner ;-;
Well, we had the restaurant to ourselves on the second level. :DD
*Or is there still a few customers on the second level? Hmmm ._.
We had soup first! *Featuring the huge bowl of rice
The dishes we had for our final dinner!
What I told Kenneth on Snapchat I guess.. Because there's still quite an amount of food. XD
There was a birthday surprise for Sheryl, as her birthday falls on that day.
*Happy Birthday Sheryl~~~^^ (I'm so late at this hahahaha)
Mmm.. The cake damn nice omg.
After having our last dinner in Vietnam..
Going back to the hotel to have a "short" briefing about the last day in Vietnam! (:
Heading to the room to have our briefing..
THE BRIEFING IS DONE, FINALLY.
Selfie in the lift.
*Took of my glasses because yeahh.. Omg.. My eye-bags.. T.T
Headed to Tessa's hotel room to have a mini-party! Well, it's the final night in Vietnam. So why not?
All the snacks that we haveee~!
Then we watched "Who Are You- School 2015" as well as "Orange Marmalade". And guess what? The Orange Marmalade drama show is so nice that I watched the entire show!! ^^ Saying about this makes me wanna watch it again.
*I've watched twice already HAHAHA. Well, the last episode lah, because it's the nicest!!
It has been ages since I had eaten cup noodles :DD
MY KOREAN CUP NOODLESSS~~
It's really spicy HAHAHA
The milo straw looks weird..
Sheryl's cup noodle~~
Last selfie for the night..?
Heading back to our hotel rooms because it's late.. ):
I was too slow in taking the picture so Sheryl and Nicole(?) were not in the shot (aka smiling already)
The fourth day in Vietnam was very wonderful too. I've definitely learnt so many new things about Vietnam on that day! Well, today was fun because we had a mini night party and there was so much fun and laughter to it. However, that was the last night we'll be staying in the hotel as well as the last night we'll be in Vietnam! ;-; It was the reality that we had to face - The 5 Days 4 Nights Trip in Vietnam was coming to an end. Well, honestly speaking, time passed extremely fast and in a blink of an eye, 4 days have passed without even knowing. During the past 4 days, I really had an enjoyable and unforgettable time with both my friends as well as working with my group members! I didn't expect BIND to be such a fun and engaging time to go to. Really, I actually didn't want to go for BIND because I was afraid of going to an unfamiliar country with only my teachers and friends!
BIND had allowed me to gain insights of Vietnam, where I tried out different cuisines in restaurants, know better about the history in Vietnam as well as the livelihood of the Vietnamese in the present! In one word, I would describe the trip as fruitful because I've learned a great amount of knowledge regarding Vietnam's past and present!
I'm really sad that this is the second last blog post of my trip in Vietnam. ): See you guys in the final part of my BIND trip! Take care~~
~Geraldine (:
